  • To enhance the mental development of young children in low income families by instilling in them a love for reading, for learning through stories, arts & crafts, games, exploration and creative projects

  • To foster family bonding and build quality relationships

Eligibility criteria for admission to programme

  • Children from families under financial assistance scheme

  • Primary 1 & 2 level

  • Identified as slow reader

  • Singapore citizen

Balam RC, Block 33, #01-07, Balam Road, S370033

 

Duration

25 sessions, 2 hours per session

 

Schedule

Saturday 2pm - 4pm from February to November

Minimum Qualification required of volunteers

  • Competence in the English language

 

Training for volunteers

  • Orientation and understanding BCCS’ philosophy

  • Effective Storytelling

  • Correct pronunciation in the English language

 

BCCS' Expectations of volunteers

  • Regular attendance

  • Good team player

  • Willing and able to actively engage child and parent during the programme

  • Participate in at least one bonding activity outside of the programme
